On July 19, Stefan Dinter (Ideation Lead at Digital Factory, ERGO Group AG) moderated the final presentations of this year’s Design Thinking and Product Design Seminar. The goal of the seminar is to understand the connection between creativity and innovation with design.

This semester, students were challenged to develop concepts for the event industry in light of the abrupt changes brought about by COVID-19.

Specifically, the focus here was on the ZOLLHOF hackathon “HACK|BAY”–which take place online for the given occasion– to further develop into an attractive hybrid format. In the future, the tech-savvy audience in particular should be animated to get excited about participating. To really work hands-on here, the students participated in this year’s Hackbay (May 18-19) and were even represented in the winning teams.

In the final event, 20 students in five groups each pitched their ideas and then demonstrated their prototypes, which they worked on in 14 weeks. The winning team was chosen by a distinguished panel of 4 judges. All pitches were incredibly creative and flawlessly crafted.

We would like to thank the students for their eager participation and of course Stefan Dinter for his extraordinary commitment!
