Grino Water Solutions receives HOCHSPRUNG Award

Grino Water Solutions has won the 1st place at the Award of HOCHSPRUNG, the Entrepreneurship Network of Bavarian Universities. The HOCHSPRUNG Award supports the start-up dynamics at Bavarian universities. 36 start-ups from all over Bavaria had applied for the prize, which awarded innovative projects with impact.

The Grino team convinced with an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution to a major social challenge: with the help of a PVRO system (Photo Voltaic Reverse Osmosis), water can be desalinated or treated and thus offer people in remote regions of the world access to drinking water.

One of the co-founders of Grino, Josef Schütz, already showed his interest and commitment in 2017 as a student in the Entrepreneurship Lecture of Prof. Dr. Brem and Dr. Bican. In the same year, the project EcoWa was launched at the Chair of Technology Management via the FLÜGGE grant and later received the  EXIST start-up grant. As project and start-up manager at the Chair, Josef Schütz took over the task to support the project in its entrepreneurial implementation while research assistant Farzaneh Ahmadloo was responsible for the technical part of constructing the system. In May 2019, they became the CFO and CTO of the spun off Grino Water Solutions.

This winter term 2019/20, Josef Schütz is the lecturer for the Entrepreneurship exercise and can thus give the students an exciting insight into the world of start-ups from different perspectives.
